Oh For Card's Sake!

Nick, aka longlivethewho, from the blog For Card's Sake emailed me asking if I would be interested in trading for a 2009 Finest Stephen Drew Printing Plate. I quickly found something that I could trade and before I knew it a package had arrived in the mail. Here is the Printing Plate and a few of the other D-Backs cards that Nick threw in. Thanks Nick!

TTM Success: Virgil "Fire" Trucks

I recieved my TTM request back from Virgil "Fire" Trucks last week. I didn't have any cards of Virgil so I sent him an index card. Mr. Trucks signed my index card and sent along a few other goodies. Thank you very much Mr. Trucks!

TTM Success

I got two TTM requests back in the mail this past Thursday. I sent them both out about a week and a half ago, so I got them back pretty quick! I didn't have a card for either, so I sent each a 3x5 index card to sign.

Lee MacPhail - Baseball Executive for the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles, he also served as American League President from 1974 - 1984. He was elected to the baseball Hall of Fame in 1998, joining his father, Larry MacPhail and becoming the only father/son pair in the Hall of Fame.

Phil Cavarretta - Played for the Chicago Cubs for 20 years (1934-1953), and the Chicago White Sox for two years (1954-1955).  He won a batting title and the National League MVP Award in 1945 while leading the Cubs to the pennant. The career .293 hitter was a 4 time All-Star. Cavarretta also owns the distinction of being the only play on a major league roster at the same time as both Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron.

Tim Hightower: In Person Auto

On Monday I heard that Arizona Cardinals Running Back Tim Hightower would be at a "local" Verizon Wireless store on Tuesday. "Local" for me ment sitting in traffic for over an hour, as I made the drive during rush hour. He was there from 5 - 7 pm. I arrived at 6:15 and there were only 2 people ahead of me when I got there. The photos were provided free of charge. As I was getting his autograph, I asked him if he would sign a couple of autographs for "my boys". I think he thought that I was saying "my boyz", because he said "How many are you talking about?" I told him two and he was like "Oh, okay." I had him personalize them for my two sons. He was on one of the local sports talk radio shows that afternoon and had talked about how the Cardinals all share the blame, himself included, for their dismal record so far this season and so I talked to him briefly about that. Hightower splits time at the Running Back position with Beanie Wells and is averaging 4.8 yards per carry with 3 rushing touchdowns.

Brandon Webb Collection Update 181/200

I picked up two Brandon Webb cards to add to my collection recently. The first I got off eBay using eBay Bucks. The second I picked up at the card shop today. These two make 181 different Brandon Webb cards in my collection. I only need 19 more to reach my goal for 2010. If anyone has any Brandon Webb cards that I don't already have, please let me know so we can work out a trade. Thanks!

Larry Fitgerald - In Person Auto

I would say that 99% of my posts are baseball related, but last night I had the opportunity to meet Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals. Larry's numbers are down this year because of the Quarterback situation here in Arizona, but I still think that he's the best Wide Receiver in the NFL. He was signing at a Dillard's store here in Phoenix. If you bought $50 worth of Perry Ellis merchandise then you got a football for him to sign. I waited in line for 2+ hours but walked away with a nice Fitzgerald autograph! (And no that is not me lurking around the corner.)

This one was not as good as the first, but could have been worse. Since I showed off some base and bronze parallels in my previous post, I'll spare you this time around.
