Jansen won 21 games as a rookie in 1947 and was the runner up to Jackie Robinson for the inaugural Rookie of the Year Award.
His best season was probably 1951 when he led the National League in victories with 23 wins. This included winning the October 3, 1951 game between the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers which featured "the shot heard 'round the world" home run by Bobby Thompson which resulted in the Giants winning the pennant and advancing to the World Series.
