Happy Father's Day!

Hope everyone has a great Father's Day!

I love my dad and will ever be grateful for everything he's done for me, but I didn't get my love of baseball from him.

He's not a fan of baseball or any sport for that matter.

Despite his lack of interest in baseball, he took me to every Little League practice and game. He shuttled me to every card shop and card show in the Phoenix area during the late 80's and early 1990's and I even talked him into a trip to the baseball Hall of Fame one year as part of a family vacation.

One year for Christmas I got tickets to see the 1996 Dream Team while they were touring the country after the Olympics. My dad and I went and I cheered on Shaq, the Mailman, Grant Hill, and the Admiral among others and my dad fell asleep.

Like I said, he's not a sports fan, but I still love him.

I got a few packs of 2017 Topps Series II today from my wife and kids. Nothing big, but since I have three kids, I'll show three cards that will stay in my collection. The rest of the inserts will be part of a prize package for my 8th anniversary of my blog which is tomorrow.

A week or so ago we were at a Diamondbacks game and I saw that the D-Backs Authentics shop had a promotion going on where you paid $50 to spin a wheel for various autographed or game-used items. There about 20 jerseys to choose from, a helmet, a base, game-used balls, autographed photos and balls, locker nameplates, etc.

I got permission to to spin as my Father's Day gift and was hoping to land on a jersey. I ended up landing on a spot for an autographed baseball. The choices were somewhat bleak. There were about 4 or 5 players to choose from and Wellington Castillo and Brad Ziegler are the only ones I remember.

Somehow I managed to talk the guy into letting me pick a game-used ball instead. I picked this ball from Spring Training.

It's from a D-Backs vs. Cubs game on 3/23/17 and was a pitch in the dirt from Zack Grienke to Kyle Schwarber in the top of the first inning.

Anybody else get any sports related gifts for Father's Day?
