Even though I've known this for many years, it didn't change my desire to collect every baseball card. However, we all know how our collecting habits can change over time. It's time for me to let go of some of the cards I've collected over the years that don't fit my collection and make room for what does fit my collection.
I like the thought of having a small representation of various sets though. I've started 9 card pages for various years and sets. Take a look. You'll notice that there aren't a lot of star cards, because they are typically with my player collections. I tried to look for rookie cards of semi stars, errors, and just photos that I liked.
Now that I've got sample pages for these sets, let me know if you need any cards from any of the following sets:
1981 Donruss
1982 Donruss
1983 Donruss
1984 Donruss
1985 Donruss
I've got about 350 cards from each of the sets above so send me a list of cards you need and I'll see what I can do and we can work out a trade.
I still need some Astros from these sets if you've got any of the following:
ReplyDelete81: 490a (Dave Roberts, 1980 Career Highlights starts "Showed pop...")
82: 293, 419, 544a (Garner reversed image error)
83: 41, 167, 293, 344, 396, 522, 613, 627, 642
84: 14, 60, 328, 354, 426, 450, 564, 580
85: 161, 206, 232, 258, 283, 304, 328, 354, 380, 405, 502, 527, 548
I went through and pulled out a few cards for you. They will be mailed out today. Enjoy!
DeleteAwesome! Thanks Daniel.
DeleteI really like your idea of having a page representing each set. I've started that with Topps and have been using the reprint inserts (Cards Your Mother Threw Out and Berger's Best) to fill in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.
ReplyDeleteLike the 9-pocket page of set representation idea. I'm pretty sure I own all 5 of these sets. But if you stumble across any 1986 Donruss you're looking to dump, let me know. Collation sucked big time for that set.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fun idea! My Cubs team sets are complete but I would be interested in any non-Cubs cards that have the Wrigley Ivy in the background (see the Bill Lee and John Milner cards on your 1981 page). I have not yet delved into early 80's sets to know what options there are though.
ReplyDeleteI found some cards for you with the Wrigley Ivy in the background. Send me your address and I'll get them in the mail for you. daniel24303 at gmail dot com.
DeleteI found your address. The cards are on there way. Enjoy!
DeleteThat's a cool idea, I might try that with some of the cards I have from the '90s. ... I'll take any spare '83 or '85 Donruss off your hands.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna give a run at 1984 Donruss and 1985 Donruss, though I don't have wantlists as of yet. My D-backs tradeables are in need of a purging, so hopefully we can swing another trade one of these days.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, very pleasing to look at. I can use an 83 and 85 Frank Tanana, or Dale Murphy from all those sets if available.
ReplyDeleteSorry, no Tanana or Murphy cards among the lots. I collect Murphy, but I would have send Tanana if I had any. I'll keep my eyes open for you though.
DeleteGreat catchers - 1982! I've been on a purge of late myself. I like your idea to represent each year on one page. You can get a lot of years into a binder this way! My goal is to do this with catchers only. When your sorting, I'd love any extra catchers in old style gear. No particular teams.
ReplyDeleteI found a few catchers for you. They will get mailed out today. Enjoy!
