Just when I'm ready to get rid of it all...

Every once in a while I get this thought in my head that I want to downsize my collection. You know, have a binder and a couple of boxes with only those cards that I would consider part of my "Personal Collection". Then an opportunitty presents itself that makes me change my mind. I posted a couple of weeks ago about former knuckleballer Tom Candiotti appearing at a couple of Sports 620 KTAR events in the Phoenix area. I went a few Saturdays ago and gave him 6 or 7 cards and had him sign 9 cards for me. Well this past Saturday he was appearing in the parking lot of my local card shop, AZ Sports, so I decided to dig through some more of my cards to see if I could find any more for him to sign. I was able to find a few more. Okay, 13 more to be exact. So between the 2 visits I had him sign 22 cards for me and gave him 6 or 7 for him to keep. If I had downsized my collection, I would've missed out on that opportunitty. A couple of you out there left a comment the last time asking to trade. I'll respond to you soon individually to set up a trade if you're still interested.

He remembered me from before and was really friendly. One of the guys from KTAR also remembered me and gave me 4 tickets to the Dodgers vs. Cubs game tomorrow, so I took the day off and will get to enjoy, if it's not raining, a Spring Training game with the family. I plan on going early to try to get some autographs. A co-worker of mine gave me some free tickets to the Padres vs. White Sox game tonight so we're going to that game as well. It's been raining all day today so I don't know how it'll go and am not planning on trying to get any autographs tonight. Just going to enjoy a ball game with my wife and kids. I love this time of year!

  1. I'm still in on these, trade freeze or no (it was an old offer...yeah, that's it...). If we can swing it somehow, I've got a Jays fan friend who'd probably flip out over one of these, too. You know where to find me. =)

  2. I already dumped 90% of my collection when moving here. All I have left are Red Sox and one box of trade fodder. Spring training autos never even entered my mind when getting rid of stuff.

  3. Oh, and have fun at the games! Spring games are awesome. I wish I were in one of the camp states right now.

  5. I've only ever got one card signed at a game before...it's a Tom Candiotti from a game at the old municipal stadium in Cleveland. Thanks for the memory!
