This is my 500th Post. I started my blog on June 19, 2009. Almost 3 years later I'm still going strong. Thanks for reading! In keeping with a 500 theme, did you know there is/was such a thing as a $500 bill? So just for fun, if you had a $500 bill, what cards would you buy (maximum of 5 cards)?
Here's what I would get. That's right, just one card. The 1997 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. Game Jersey card. Griffey is my favorite player of all-time. I have multiple Griffey jersey and bat cards, every rookie card, an autographed jersey, ball, mini-helmet and 2 different autographed cards, but this is the one card of his that I covet the most. If I had an extra $500 to spend on cards I would get this card. It rarely shows up on eBay and when it does it commands a large price tag, but $500 should ensure that it would be mine.
Congrats, I'm nearing 500 myself, which is hard to believe. Great card choice.
ReplyDeleteI would go with a David Wright Rookie Auto, a Justin Upton Rookie Auto, and the 2010 Bowman Scott Sizemore Superfractor.
Congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I'd buy the remaining cards I need to fill out my '71 Topps set and then use the remaining funds to buy a Sidney Crosby auto.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! A Matt Kemp rookie auto, a Kemp/Kershaw dual auto/relic from Ticket To Stardom (or a dual on-card auto if I could find one), and a bunch of Ryan Getzlaf autos.
ReplyDeleteCongrats... My instincts would be to buy a couple of vintage sets I have never managed to get around to finishing but since you put the limit it 5 cards... Not sure of values but if only 5 cards about $100 per card...
ReplyDelete1. 1976 Topps Football 148 Walter Payton RC Bears
2. Almost any poorer conditioned Mickey Mantle that fit in the price range
3. Ditto a Yogi Berra
4. A nice conditioned Original T206 of a Washington or Baltimore Player
5. A Sammy Baugh Rookie Card
Congrats on the 500.
ReplyDeleteI would go with:
1. Billy Williams rookie & auto.
2. Tom Seaver rookie & auto
3. Luis Aparicio rookie & auto
4. Paul Konerko auto
5. Peyton Manning auto.
I'm cheap, so I'll probably never have any of those for my player collections. Technically 8 cards, but I don't think I'm that close to my $500.
