Back in March I got this card from Adam, of the the blog Infield Fly Rule.
I consider myself a Ryan Roberts super collector and this is one of my favorite cards.
It's a bit hard to tell, but the photo features Roberts paying tribute to his manager at the time, Kirk Gibson, by imitating his famous fist pump while rounding the bases after hitting a game-winning, come from behind grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning against the division rival Dodgers on September 27, 2011 on their way to the 2011 postseason.
Topps did a great job capturing this moment on Roberts' 2012 Topps card.
Ryan Roberts also got a SP in the 2012 Topps set. The photo is from the same game. He put his jersey back on and came out for an interview with Fox Sports and the card captured the moment right before teammate Chris Young hits him from behind in the face with some shaving cream.
I've showed off this card on my blog before, but I in my quest to collect anything and everything Ryan Roberts I recently tracked down a ticket stub from the game.
Nice to get the ticket stub to go with it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I'm going to make it down this year at any point during baseball season. Looks like no D'backs games for me this year.
Wow, that was a heck of an inning! Topps certainly chose well for Roberts that year.
ReplyDeleteDown 5 runs in the bottom of the 10th... and a walk off grand slam? These are the kinds of highlights that even non-baseball fans can appreciate. Cool cards. And very cool ticket stub.
