In the stack of cards on my desk were just two Reggie Jackson cards, well one card and one booklet.
The card is a 2019 Allen & Ginter card featuring Jackson in an Angels uniform. On a related note, if anyone has a 1971, 1972, or 1980 Topps base Reggie Jackson card and you want to make me really happy, you would send me a a copy. I mean, my birthday is in a couple of days.
The booklet is from 1970 Topps and was apparently owned by a Laura before me.
Laura used a pencil to mark her property, so I was able to use an eraser to remove her claim to the booklet. As you can see, it didn't go so well. Although I will say that her name shows up more in the picture than in person.
So I did the next best thing and put my name over Laura. Problem solved!
I only spent 10 cents on it, so I might as well enjoy it. How about you? Have you ever written on a baseball card before?
That is the funniest thing - good job asserting your ownership over that card.
ReplyDeleteI'm too finicky about the condition of my cards to scribble on any of them, even for fun.
love how you solved the identity crisis! my fave Jackson is a 71. I don't collect him but want a clean copy of that card. It will probably run me $40 -50 one day. Your Guardian figure does a fun job holding the card for display.
ReplyDeleteI half expect Laura to show up at your doorstep and demand her card now.
ReplyDeleteThe only time I've written on cards is for some blog stunt. But I never wrote on cards as a kid.
I have to admit I did write X's on the checklists when I was a kid. And I still have those checklists.
ReplyDeleteLol. Nice solution. I can't remember any specific moments when I wrote on a card... other than to sign my custom trading cards for bloggers and students. But I'm sure I have written on checklists before.
