Twitter Trade

Have you ever had someone ask you if you're interested in a card and in your mind you're like "Sweet! That's awesome! I would do anything to have that card." but you try to play it cool and are like, "Yeah, I'll see if I can find something to trade."?

Marcus, of the blog All the way to the backstop, reached out to me on Twitter and asked if I'd be interested in this card. Marcus isn't as active on his blog as he has been in the past, but he's active on Twitter.

Marcus pulled it from 2018 Heritage and luckily I was able to find something that he wanted in return.

Marcus sent some other great D-Backs cards as well including three 2018 Heritage base cards one of which is this JD Martinez card that completes the base set that I got from Julie in the mail the same day.

Here are a couple of Inception cards including a numbered Yasmany Tomas and a green parallel of A.J. Pollock.

Speaking of A.J. Pollock. 

In addition to the 2018 Topps Pollock, Marcus also included a couple others D-Backs cards. Thanks Marcus!

I'm only a couple months behind.

I haven't showed off my Black Friday order from comc.com yet. It needed to be sorted, scanned, and put away. I'm just getting around to it now.

The majority are Goldschmidt cards. I know I bought them in 2016, but since I'm not sorting them and putting them away until 2017 I'm going to count them towards my 2017 Paul Goldschmidt goals. 

I don't feel guilty about this because I think I'll probably end up doubling my original goal by the end of the year.

I bought 13 Goldschmidt cards on Black Friday, but I've already added two of the card in between then and now, so here are the 11 new Goldschmidt cards for my collection.

2 Unexpected Packages from The Dutch Card Guy and Cervin' Up Cards

On Monday I got 2 unexpected packages in the mail! Now, unexpected cards are always AWESOME, but when you recently committed to not making any card related purchases, unexpected cards in the mail are even more AWESOME!

The Dutch Card Guy hooked me up from overseas with a bunch of D-Backs cards as a thank you for helping him secure a mini metal Rizzo card for his collection! Thanks Jeroen!

In Person Autograph Recap

On Friday, February 7th, there was a D-Backs autograph signing at Vee Quiva Hotel & Casino. The D-Backs have held this event the day before Fan Fest for the past several years, but they don't always do a good job promoting it. If it wasn't for Moe over at the blog, My 2008 Topps Set Blog, I would have missed out! Thanks Moe!

I also want to thank Joe, of the blog Catching Rays, for providing me with the Archie Bradley photo below to get signed.

Archie Bradley was the first of 4 D-Backs at the event. He is the top prospect in the D-Backs organization and one of the top prospects in all of baseball.

He was really nice and personable and seemed to really enjoy being there. I had my two oldest boys with me and we went through the line twice so we were able to get a few different things signed.

Did Gregorious was next and he seemed to enjoy being there with his teammates but didn't seem to really enjoy interacting with the fans. That's just the impression that I got.

Addison Reed was next. Reed is a new addition to the D-Backs. He didn't seem to excited to be at the event. I couldn't find any cards for him so I was only able to get the postcard from him. 

The final player at the event was A.J. Pollock. He was friendly and engaging. 

After going through the line for the second time we were waiting to speak with Moe and then a representative from the D-Backs came over and asked if we'd like to take pictures with the players. Moe was nice enough to take a few pictures with my phone, but the camera isn't very good. Here's one normal and one with us all making funny faces.
