TTM Tuesday

I haven't gotten a lot of ttms recently, but I am really happy with the two that have come in over the past few weeks.

I sent Brooks Robinson two cards and a few index cards as well as a donation.

He signed both cards and added the "HOF 83" inscription.

The turned out great!

I asked that he personalize each index card to my boys and add his nickname "Human Vacuum Cleaner" and he did! 

My second return was a 4 x 6 photo that I had gotten signed earlier this year by Buck Showalter. I sent it to Jason Alexander (George from Seinfeld) and he signed it as well. If you remember, George worked for the Yankees during a couple of seasons of the hit tv show.

TTM Tuesday: (Doerr and Virdon)

I got two returns back this past week.

This 2013 Allen & Ginter card of Boston Red Sox and Hall of Famer Bobby Doerr came back in about a month and a half.

Doerr was born April 7, 1918. He will turn 99 years old next month and is currently the oldest living Major League baseball player.

I also got a two card return from Bill Virdon. Virdon was the 1955 Rookie of the Year winner with the St. Louis Cardinals and won a World Series as a member of the 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates. He also managed 4 different clubs over a 13 year period (1972 - 1984), twice winning Manager of the Year.

I didn't realize it until writing this post, but the two cards I sent are from his first year as a manager and his last. 

TTM Tuesday

These all came in on the same day last week. There are a couple of baseball returns and a couple of entertainment returns as well.

First up is Hall of Fame closer Rick "Goose" Gossage.

Next up is another closer from the same general time period as Gossage. Al "The Mad Hungarian" Hrabosky. 

I sent the first two photos and she included the third. This is Margaret Kerry. She was the human model used for Tinker Bell for the Peter Pan film.

Finally, I sent an email request and got back a signed photo from Pat Sajak and Vanna White of Wheel of Fortune.

D-Backs Alumni Night: Autographs (Part #1)

My oldest son and I went to the D-Backs game last night. It was Alumni Night and so we spent an hour before the game and the first 5 innings trying to get autographs. We were able to get several autographs; mostly on cards, but we got two other items signed.

First up is the D-Backs Insider magazine. I got 3 out of the 4 players on the cover and the one I didn't get was Luis Gonzalez. He shouldn't be hard to get. I got him on some cards last night, but it was before I got the magazine.

The other item is one of the jumbo tickets from the 2001 World Series. We got Mike Morgan, Reggie Sanders, Luis Gonzalez, Steve Finley, and David Dellucci.

In Person Autograph: Cody Ross

We didn't get any autographs before the game on Saturday, but I realized that I never showed off these two 2013 Heritage Cody Ross cards that we got signed before the game on April 26th. I also never showed off the Patrick Corbin bobblehead from that game either. I've got some catching up to do.

Autographs from Spring Trainings Past

A few days ago I was looking for something in my garage, when I came accross a box that had some sports magazines and newspapers (Baseball Weekly and The Sporting News) inside that I had kept over the years. Also inside the box was a small binder of cards that I had taken with me to Spring Training games and practices back in 2004. Most of the cards in the binder were unsigned, but here is a look at the cards that I was able to get signed.

TTM Autograph Success

I received 3 TTM Autographs this past week. Here is what I got.

Al Dark - 1948 MLB Rookie of the Year. Mr. Dark signed the signature card that I sent and he also included a signed pamphlet about his religious views. Thanks Mr. Dark!

Roy Sievers - 1949 AL Rookie of the Year. Mr. Sievers signed the signature card that I sent him and included 2 additional signed cards of his own. Thanks Mr. Sievers!

Max Scherzer - I sent Max his 2008 and 2009 Topps Allen & Ginter cards. He sent back his 2008 Allen & Ginter and a 2008 Topps card. Not sure why he kept my 2009 A & G, but at least he sent me a card in its place. Max also personalized each autograph to me, which I think he typically does. Thanks Max!

TTM Success - Duke Snider and Ron Cey

As a kid I sent away for a few autographs through the mail. Guys like Dale Murphy, Don Mattingly and Mickey Morindini. What's that? You don't remember Mickey Morandini? Former All-Star (1995) second baseman of the Philadelphia Phillies, who on September 20, 1992 turned an unassisted triple play. Anyways, I am getting back into the baseball card hobby again, now as an adult and I wanted to try my luck at getting some autographs through the mail. My first successes came back to me on the same day. Fitting, since I sent them out on the same day. Former Dodger players Duke Snider and Ron Cey signed both cards I sent and I recieved them just 6 days after I sent them. Needless to say, I was pretty excited.

I sent each a copy of their 2000 Fleer Greats of the Game card and a Signature Card that I purchased from TheAutographCard.com. I think they all turned out great and would like to thank both Mr. Snider and Mr. Cey!
