The Great Organizing of 2018!

When I wrote my blog post about What I Collect for the Blog Bat Around last month I realized that my collection is really unorganized.

I have over 50 different mini collections, a dozen or so player collections, and a ton of insert and subsets that I want to collect. In addition to my Topps Page-a-Year collection, I want to document every set with at least 8 cards. Yes, I said every set. Yes, that means every set ever made. Why? Because I love collecting baseball cards. The more the better! There's no time frame for the project and while I'll start with cards I already have, I'll become familiar with sets that I've never seen before.

Along with organizing, I'll be showing off my collection. I've already started with the Pro Visions sets and my "Chicks dig the long ball." mini collection.

I've got two 3,000 count boxes full of random baseball cards that I've purchased over the last few years mostly at card shops and card shows. Another 3,000 count box of Diamondbacks cards that needs to be sorted and organized. And three 1,600 count shoe boxes with random cards that need to be sorted.

I've never been a binder guy, but that's going to change. I want to be able to enjoy my collection by being able to easily view it and so binders are the way to go.

I'm also going to start documenting my wants and needs in order to help me focus and reduce purchasing doubles. Hopefully I'll be able to get some of my wants and needs through trades as well.

While I'll be posting about individual projects on a regular basis, I'll try to do a monthly recap on the overall organization process.

  1. The best thing about having so many different things to collect is you're always able to find something at card shows and flea markets. Can't wait to see these projects of yours.

  3. enjoy the journey! since I began reorganizing my collection last summer, collecting has been more fun. Less new product though, but loving the older cardboard!
