General Motors (GM) was founded on September 16, 1908 as a holding company by William C. Durant and Charles Stewart Mott in Flint, Michigan.
86 years later Upper Deck produced a set of cards based on Ken Burns documentary Baseball: The American Epic. The 80 card set was distributed via retail outlets, QVC, direct mail, and the Upper Deck Authenticated catalog.
There was a 9 card set that was available in pack sold for $1 only at GM dealerships. A 15 card set could be ordered from Little Debbie.
Here is the GM set.
Here are my thoughts on the set.
Likes: Love that it is only 9 cards and fits nicely in a 9 card sheet. Great player selection and photo choice. Lots of information on the back.
Dislikes: If you're familiar with the documentary then you know that it's separated into innings and I wish this 9 card set would have been the same. Instead it has cards that feature a player from 1909, 1927, two from 1941, 1945, 1947, 1956 , 1972, and 1974. I just think they missed a perfect opportunity.

A much needed distraction!
First off, I just want to thank everyone for the well wishes for my family and I following the unexpected passing of my mother. I appreciate all the kind words, the thoughts and prayers. Thank you all.
Bru of the blog, Remember the Astrodome, sent me a nice care package to help me take my mind off things.
Bru sent a nice batch of Goldschmidt cards and 5 of the 7 are new to my Goldschmidt collection!
Bru sent a nice selection of 2018 cards, most of which I hadn't seen before.
This Ballpark Landmarks card is my favorite non-Goldschmidt 2018 card from Bru.
Here's a nice bat card of Yasmany Tomas. Tomas has spent all of 2018 in AAA Reno and with his .262 batting average and 14 home runs, it doesn't look like he'll be back in the majors any time soon.
Bru didn't just send D-Backs, he sent cards for two of my player collections.
This Sportflics card features not only Dwight Gooden, but Don Mattingly (a player I collect), Eddie Murray, Ricky Henderson, Roger Clemens, and...
Dale Murphy.
Thank you very much Bru for the cards and the distraction!

Update
I haven't posted in a while.
On Friday, August 17th my mother passed away unexpectedly. She's been in poor health for the past several years, but this was a total shock to everyone.
The last two weeks have been an absolute blur. We held the funeral on August 25th. It was a beautiful tribute to an amazing woman. It was great to see family and friends that we haven't seen in years, but it has also been physically and emotionally exhausting.
I hope to get back to blogging soon.
