I got these cards last Friday and on my way home from work I stopped at a card shop. While there I found a bag with what ended up being a complete set and the cards were in good condition. I inquired about the cards and they set me back $1 for the entire 33 card set.
This set was produced by Topps and contains a star studded lineup featuring many future Hall of Famers. The backs are contain some demographic information, stats from 1983, career highlights, and some personal information.
This section of personal information is where I learned that Gary Carter's hobbies included collecting baseball cards. I think most collectors today are aware of Brad Ziegler and Pet Neshek and their collections, but I for one, had no idea that Gary Carter collected baseball cards.
Recently I've started to appreciate the random information found on card backs. Haven't taken the time to appreciate them since the early 80's when I was a little kid.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Gary Carter's baseball cards. There's a huge Gary Carter collector on YouTube who actually owns some of the cards that came out of Gary Carter's personal collection. If you're bored...

That's awesome! I watched and subscribed to him. Thanks!
DeleteI was going to share what Fuji did, I just saw it today.
ReplyDeleteNice! I'm working on this as well - one of the many food issue sets I'm slowly building.
