Update 1971 Topps Needs

Yesterday I posted about the many shades of 1987 Topps. Today I will focus on a set with just one shade: black. 1971 Topps.

I mentioned a few posts back that Bo, from Baseball Cards Come to Life!, sent me some 1970 and 1971 cards as part of a trade. I shared the 1970 cards, but here are the eight cards from 1971 that Bo sent me for my set.

Again, Bo comes through with a few big names: Phil Niekro, Boog Powell on the World Series card and Graig Nettles. And I'm not sure why, but I'm fascinated by vintage checklists. Thanks Bo! At some point I will probably upgrade the Frank Tepedino card since one of it's previous owners made adjustments since the Yankees traded Tepedino to the Brewers in June of 1971. Tepedino became a fireman in New York City after his baseball career and arrived at the World Trade Center back on 9/11/01 after the second tower had fallen.

I need just 33 cards to complete the 1971 set. There are some big names though, so I don't anticipate finishing this set anytime soon.
