I arrived at the show shortly after it opened at 9 AM. There was already two people looking through that dime box so I patiently waited my turn. I looked through a couple of the other boxes at that dealers table while I waited. I found a few cards that I needed, or at least thought I needed.
I didn’t need this 1961 Topps Herb Score card, so that was good.
Turns out I already had the 1958 and the 1961 Wally Moon cards. So only the 1965 Topps was a new card to me. At least all of these cards were only two dollars a piece.
As soon as one of the guys looking through the dime box left I moved in and began digging through and finding a bunch of great cards including 26 Barry Bonds cards. I ended up with 123 cards from the dime box.
So for the one Score and three Moon cards plus the 123 cards from the dime box I paid $20.
I found another booth that had some bonds cards and I was able to get nine from there so total I bought 35 Barry Bonds cards.
I ended up needing 33 out of the 35 cards. Shown above are the 33 cards that I was able to add to my Barry Bonds collection. This Puts me past 500 as I now have 505 unique Barry Bonds cards. Only 257 cards to go to reach 762.
I browsed looking for some vintage nice vintage at affordable prices, but didn’t have any luck at finding what I wanted. I was looking for a 1955 Topps Hank Aaron, But didn’t see any. I did find a 1954 Topps Ernie Banks rookie card but it was a PSA 3 and they wanted $1200 for it so it was a bit out of my price range.
At the last booth before I left I was waiting to go through a 2/$1 box and the dealer handed me a $2 box to go through while I waited. I found these nine cards and offered $15 and he accepted.
I have the regular versions of these but did not have the Chrome version so I went ahead and picked these up.
When I was able to go through the 2/$1 box I found a couple of Cards that peaked my interest.
Overall, it was a good show. Well attended. Again, I just wish there was more vintage.
After the show I went to a card shop and then went to my sons flag football game. I got a card delivered via FedEx. Later that afternoon I went to another card shop. I’ll have posts for each of these experiences.
How about you? Did you do anything card related yesterday? Attend any card shows or go to any card shops?
Looks like you found the emotion Bonds, so thats good!
ReplyDeleteI did. I was glad it was still there. I don't think most people collect him, but I was still glad that one was there because I knew I didn't have it.
DeleteThose vintage cards look like nice pickups. I was at a shop yesterday and I asked the owner about vintage cards. I was told he had an arrangement with a customer and they simply sold all vintage to him whenever it came in, so the cards never hit the sales floor. Talk about a buzz kill.

Sorry about the double comment.
ReplyDeleteThat is really crazy about your card shop. Not enough vintage to go around I guess. Time to find a new card shop!
DeleteI like that Trout Bash and Burn.
ReplyDeleteI did some organizing yesterday. Watched the football games.
Yeah, that Trout is pretty cool. I started selling on eBay recently and thought it might be a good candidate for that, but probably not. There were some great football games this past weekend!
DeleteI worked yesterday, no card things. Can't wait to look through discount boxes, but sure won't be pulling any Barry Bonds cards!
ReplyDeleteThe price for the Ernie Banks is outrageous. Grading is 10 percent assuring your card is authentic and 90 percent an excuse to crazily hike the price of a card.
Agree with you on the grading aspect. On certain things I just want to make sure it's authentic. I'm not a stickler for condition those so I'll take a card graded as a 1 for the right price.
DeleteI didn't do anything card-related yesterday. Today I'm adding my dad's 1971 Topps duplicates to TCDB.
ReplyDeleteLove the 1971 set. So happy to finish it off recently.
DeleteIt looks like you had a successful time at the card show. It is always fun to find cards for your collection in the dime boxes.
ReplyDeleteI should have done more with my cards this weekend especially today since we have been home bound due to a snow storm. I did put stickers in my NHL sticker book for this year.
Fun to find them and then fun, but somewhat a chore, to put them away. I have to pull out so many different binders because I have ones for different players and my various mini collections.
DeleteI wish I could get to a card show. Can't wait until I can get down to Syracuse again for one.
ReplyDeleteCard shows are tons of fun because you never know what you might see. Sometimes I go with a purpose, but most of the time I am just there to browse and see what catches my eye.
DeleteNo card things other than finalizing a TCDB trade to get my last straggler for my '76 set. Some day I'd like to go to a card show . . .
ReplyDeleteI need to do the whole TCDB someday.
DeleteJealous of those Chrome Mantles. I've thought about building that set before. Didn't really do anything card related this past weekend other than write a post. But I'm going to a show next weekend.
ReplyDeleteI got the regular ones on comc a few years back and so when I saw these for $2 each, I thought why not. But now I need to get the rest and it's not likely I will get them for $2 each so we'll see. I did get a lot on eBay with I think 6 more that I needed for a decent price.
DeleteMaking good progress on the Bonds project! If you know which Home Run History cards of his you have, let me know and I will see if I have any you don't.
ReplyDeleteThanks! There are the Bonds Home Run History cards I already have.
