I'll take...Hall of Fame rookie cards from the 1970's for 50 cents please.

I picked up this 1971 Topps Bert Blyleven rookie card at my LCS last weekend for 50 cents. It's not in great shape, but it's a 46 year old rookie card of a Hall of Famer from a set that was condition sensitive from day one.

I'll pay 50 cents all day, every day for this card in this condition, as evident by the fact that this is not the first time I picked up this card from my LCS for less than a buck.

I have no idea what this card "books" for today but a quick look at a March 1991 Beckett tells me this card had a high book value of $65.00. The February 2010 Beckett (the last Beckett I've ever purchased) shows high book fro this card at $20. At that rate, maybe 50 cents is book value today.

Regardless, it's a great looking card from a great looking set and I'm happy to have it in my collection!

  1. There's no way you could pass that steal of a deal "Bly"!

  2. Looks at least as good as most of my 1971's.

  3. 1971 is a tough set condition wise. I wouldn't have been able to pass that up for 50 cents either. Awesome card.

    1. I was thinking about this the other day... I wonder how the 2020 Heritage set will hold up when it reflects on the 1971 black bordered design?

  5. That's it. I can't stand it anymore. I'm quitting my job, packing my bags, moving to Arizona, and gonna start digging through your LCS's boxes. See ya soon!

    P.S. Congratulations!
