Serial Numbered Sunday (#1)

It's Sunday. Let's an in depth look at a serial numbered card.

Here's a 2016 Topps Chrome card featuring Zack Greinke of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The 200 card 2016 Topps Chrome set features 9 different refractor parallels of every one of the 200 cards.

Refractor - not numbered
Prism - not numbered
Purple - numbered to 275
Blue - numbered to 150
Green - numbered to 99
Gold - numbered to 50
Orange - numbered to 25
Red - numbered to 5
Superfractor - numbered 1/1

The picture on this card is from Spring Training. You can tell because of the cap.

This is the purple variation and it's numbered on the back 273/275.

You can see Greinke's full career stats up to that point (13 years). Greinke is one of those guys that has been around for a lot longer than you actually think.

I was ecstatic when I heard the D-Backs had signed Greinke to a 6 year $206,500,000.00 contract during the 2015-16 off season. 2016 was Greinke's first season with the D-Backs and to be honest, he was a huge disappointment. He won 13 games and lost 7 with a 4.37 ERA. This off season there has been talk of trying to get rid of him, but the thought is that nobody would be willing to take on his contract. Hopefully he can get back to his old form in 2017.

  1. i was hoping for another 000/ card.

i also was hoping that greinke would stay with the dodgers last year.

    i'm 0 for 2 regarding this post.

  2. I remember when Grienke nearly retired due to anxiety issues. Now he's making $1 million per start. Hope AZ doesn't regret that ginormous contract, he's one of the 3-5 best pitchers in the game when he's right.

Topps/Bowman make way too many refractors. 3 or 4 types is enough!

  3. I thought the D'backs would make a run at winning the division last year with Greinke and Miller. A lot of people blame Greinke and Miller for the team underperforming, but losing AJ Pollock a few days before Opening Day was a huge loss. I really hope your team can turn things around this year.

When I was looking at the different parallels and serial numbers on this post, I just realized I have a completed rainbow of Cutch for 2016 Chrome. I'll have to do a post on that one soon.
