The D-Train delivers in Arizona

I inherited $300 worth (6 - $50 tickets) of tickets to yesterdays Diamondbacks game against the Colorado Rockies. Thanks Brent! They were great seats and the D-Backs won! What more could you ask for? Well how about seeing the D-Train, Dontrelle Willis, in his Diamondbacks pitching debut. I thought he pitched well, giving up 5 hits and 4 walks in 6 shutout innings. He also got a single in his first at bat of the season and scored the Diamondbacks first run of the game on a headfirst slide in a play at the plate.

The D-Backs bullpen came in in the 7th inning and gave up 3 runs, but the D-Backs were able to hold on for a 4-3 victory. I took my 4 year old to the game and was a little nervous because he has never been to an entire MLB game before. The first couple of innings were brutal, but once he got some popcorn and a hot dog he settled down. We all got D-Backs batting helmets as the promotional giveaway for the game and the D-Backs were running a promotion where if you turned in 25 completed All-Star ballots then you got a Justin Upton / Dan Haren 2009 All-Star lithograph, so I got one of those. It's pretty sweet! I'll try to post a picture of it soon. The Diamondbacks have a serious 2 game win streak going on right now. Ubaldo Jimenez, (10-1, 0.78 ERA) today's starting pitcher for the Rockies had better watch out!

2009 Spectrum Blasters

 I picked up two blasters of 2009 Upper Deck Spectrum at K-Mart yesterday. Each box had 4 packs with a "memorabilia card in every box (on average)". I don't know what the original price for each blaster was, but I paid $5.99 for each one, a "Fantastic Value". Here's what I got.

Card Shop Purchase

Picked this up at the card shop today. It's pretty cool in person even though it is a manufactured patch. I like Feller and it's numbered 65/99, so for $2 bucks I couldn't pass it up. If anyone has the Dan Haren Hat Logo card and wants to trade for this Feller, let me know.

Box Break: 2010 Topps National Chicle Retail Blaster

I had some time to kill on Saturday, so I picked up a 2010 Topps National Chicle Retail Blaster at Target. The blaster has 8 packs, oops sorry "7 packs plus one extra pack".  Not sure how I feel about National Chicle. Some of the cards are awesome and then some are just awful. I definitely like the retro stars the best. Here are the contents of my 8 packs. I will identify my favorite card out of each pack.

The best bubblegum card ever!

Shelliebee of the blog the middle child put together a collection of cards featuring baseball players blowing bubbles using bubblegum. Here is, in my opinion, the best bubblegum card ever! It may or may not be a real bubble, but I still think it's an awesome card. I also really enjoy getting to see Griffey's locker.

A unique eBay experience!!

I bought this 2010 Topps Heritage Clubhouse Collection DAN HAREN Jersey card off eBay last Sunday. When it arrived I noticed that it had a small crease on the front of the card that I had not noticed when looking at it on eBay. The crease goes from the tip of the home plate/jersey to the edge of the card. You can see a tiny white spot above the "o" in Worn, that's where the crease is.

I left the seller positive feedback but mentioned that the card had a small crease on front that was not visable in scan and not mentioned in the listing. About 20 minutes after leaving the feedback, I saw that I had an email from PayPal. The eBay seller had refunded me my money and left a note saying that he was sorry, that he had not noticed the crease, and for me to keep the card. I was shocked. I had not expected the seller to do anything, and  I realize that the crease is most likely from the factory (that's why I left positive feedback). Seller rebos went above and beyond when it comes to customer service. I thanked him and let him know that he will have a repeat customer. Check out his other items on eBay if you get a chance. It's nice to know that there are good eBay sellers out there committed to doing the right thing. Thanks rebos!

2007 UD SP Rookie Edition Diamondbacks

On a recent trip to my local card shop, I had decided to spend $10 or less. After spending about a half hour browsing, I made my purchases. I picked up the following 6 Diamondback cards, all from the 2007 UD SP Rookie Edition set and a package of penny sleves. The Diamondback cards were 6 for $1 and the package of penny sleves was $1, so I spent a grand total of $2 bucks. Who says card collecting has to be an expensive hobby?
