Card Shop Purchase - Printing Plate, Auto. & Xfractor

I picked up 3 cards yesterday at my local card shop, AZ Sports Cards.

2006 Bowman Chrome Cyan Printing Plate of Arizona Diamondback Conor Jackson

2010 Topps Peak Performance Chris Young Autograph

2008 Bowman Chrome Brandon Webb Xfractor 090/250

2 Cards - 10 Bats

Many of you know my obsession with cards of players featuring them holding more than one bat. Ryan of The Great Orioles Autograph Project sent me two amazing cards for me to add to my collection. First up is this 1991 Donruss Brady Anderson card. The card features a young Brady Anderson on the top step of the dugout holding 6 bats.

The second card that Ryan sent is from the 2009 Topps Heritage Baseball Flashback insert set. The card features Bobby Richardson who was named the 1960 World Series MVP despite playing for the losing team. Richardson is holding 4 bats in the photo.

So there you have it. 2 cards - 10 bats. Thanks Ryan! I'll be sending you some O's soon!

Spring Training Autographs

This past Tuesday I took my oldest son (4 years old) over to the Cincinnati Reds Spring Training practice fields. I hadn't been to the practice fields before, so we first ended up watching the minor leaguers for a little while before walking over to where the major league players were. We watched them practice a little bit and my son ran up and down the metal bleachers. He wasn't very interested in anything else. Most of the players, when asked about an autograph, said that they would sign after batting practice. We had to leave before that, so I only got a couple of autographs. I got pitcher Daniel Ray Herrera and Manager Dusty Baker. I had them sign the cards that the Reds sent me when I requested a fan pack. It wasn't my best day for autographs but I left happy that I got to spend some time watching baseball with my son.

An eBay Purchase

I won this card off eBay about two weeks ago. It's a 2009 Upper Deck Ballpark Collection Teammate Timelines dual Jersey card featuring Brandon Webb and Chris Young of the Arizona Diamondbacks. It's serial numbered on the front 233/500. Webb has several dual jersey cards from this set, but I like this one because it features another D-Back. It's my 125th different Brandon Webb card in my collection.

Card Shop Purchase

I picked up this Max Scherzer card for my personal collection at my local card shop a few weeks ago. I think that Scherzer's a good, young pitcher and wish him well in Detroit. If you look closely at the card you can see that Max has two different colored eyes. I picked it up for $5 bucks.

2009 Topps Unique MAX SCHERZER Autograph

Lincecum - Peavy - Webb

I picked this up today at the card shop. It's a 2009 Topps Triple Threads card featuring jerseys of the 2008 NL Cy Young Award Winner - Tim Lincecum, 2007 NL Cy Young Award Winner - Jake Peavy, and 2006 NL Cy Young Award Winner - Brandon Webb. It's serial numbered on the front 27/27. I, of course, wanted it because of Webb, but I like that it also features two other Cy Young Award Winners. I had been looking at a similar card on eBay a while back and so when I saw this at the card shop, I decided to get it. I got it for $20, which is more than I usually spend on a single card, but I thought that it was a good deal.
