100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #42

Card #42 is another multiplayer rookie card of a Hall of Famer Andre Dawson. I’ve had this one for a while and don’t recall where I got it from, but upon review it’s pretty off centered. It will need to be upgraded someday.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #40 and #41

Well, it finally happened. I forgot and missed a day posting, so today let’s do Card #40 and #41.

Card #40 is a Jim Palmer rookie card. I bought this off Facebook in 2019.

Card #41 is a 1962 Mickey Mantle card. Not his base card from the set, but still a card from his playing days. I’ll take it! This came from the same seller on Facebook as the Palmer and many of my other vintage purchases in 2019. This came as part of a lot of vintage Yankees cards.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #39

Alright, let’s showcase another Hall of Fame rookie card in my 100 Pounds, 100 Cards post today. Card #39 is a 1961 Topps Billy Williams. As you can see, it’s got some surface wear, but other than that, it’s not in horrible shape.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #38

We got back from Six Flags Magic Mountain late last night (actually it was early this morning - about  1:30 am) and then I had to work today, so I’m tired, but I’m still going to get a quick post in for my 100 pounds - 100 Cards posts.

Card #38 is a rookie card of Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio. I picked this up from a guy on Facebook in 2019. I bought a bunch of vintage, mostly Hall of Fame rookie cards from the same guy. Great deals for some awesome cards. The condition isn’t perfect by any means, but I still think most of the cards look nice.

Here are a couple pics from Magic Mountain. We went for a couple of days and had a blast! I hadn’t been in almost 15 years.  Anybody been to Magic Mountain before or any of the other Six Flags parks. We did Knottsberry Farm season passes last year and so we did Magic Mountain this year. Goliath was a family favorite. My favorite ride was probably one called Crazanity. Not a roller coaster, but a pendulum ride. The Superman ride was closed, but I did go on Lex Luther’s Drop of Doom with my oldest.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card # 37

Card #37 is another multi player rookie card of a Hall of Famer that I added to my collection in 2019. I had this Cal Ripken rookie card previously, but sold it years ago. I added this one via a 1982 Topps set that I purchased from my LCS last year.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #36

As I mentioned yesterday, the next few cards I’m going to share are rookie cards of Hall of Famers that I picked up in 2019.

Card #36 is another 1965 Topps card of Joe Morgan. I bought this one off somebody on Facebook. I don’t remember how much I paid for it, but at least as recently as a couple weeks ago, my LCS has one for $10, which seems like a bargain.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #35

In 2019 I lost 100 pounds and I also expanded my Baseball Hall of Fame rookie card collection quite a bit in 2019 as well, so Card #35 and the next few cards I share will be rookie cards that I picked up in 2019.

Today is a 1965 Topps Steve Carlton rookie card. This is a card that I wasn’t very familiar with prior to seeing it and purchasing it. I actually bought it off someone on Twitter.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #34

I’m posting this during half time at the Suns vs. Magic game. I have a couple of basketball cards that are in my top 100 favorite cards in my collection, but I don’t have pics of any of them on my phone, so that will have to wait for another day.

Here is my view..

Card #34 is this Mark Prior auto. Prior was huge back in the day. I pulled this from a pack, or it might have been a redemption I pulled, but I think I actually pulled it from a pack, which was a big deal at the time. I love the clean design and

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #33

I’m a third of the way through 100 of my favorite cards in my collection. Card #33 is 1992 Upper Deck Card of Neon Deion Sanders; Prime Time. This was a insert, similar to the 1991 Upper Deck Michael Jordan card I featured earlier, and if my memory is correct it was inserted at a rate of one per box. I’m pretty sure I got a box of 1992 Upper Deck for Christmas one year as a kid, so this card probably came from that box. This was just such a cool card of a great player who was a multi-sport athlete. I still love looking at the card today.

100 Pounds -100 Cards - Card #32

I keep almost letting the day go by without posting. Card #32 is a Jeff Kent card. It is the only Jeff Kent card in my 100 favorite cards. It’s a card that features a piece of a baseball used in the 2002 World Series. Love the stitches.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #31

I haven’t missed a day yet in posting one of my 100 favorite cards in my collection. Today for Card #31, I present a rookie card of #31, Mike Piazza.

As a kid, before so knew any better, I used to love the Dodgers and when Mike Piazza debuted I was an instant fan. For me growing up Griffey was always number 1 for me and Piazza was a close second as far as my favorite players and my collecting focus.

For a long time this 1992 Bowman was the rookie card to have of Piazza, but I think the 1992 Fleer Update Card May be more desirable now. Sadly I don’t have that card yet.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card # 30

Card #30 is a Fleer Greats of the Game autograph of Bob Gibson. I don’t remember the website I got this from, but I remember it was only $5. I love the old Fleer Greats of the Game sets and to add a nice autograph of a Hall of Famer for just $5 was awesome.

I need more Bob Gibson in my collection. I recently came across his 1971 Topps card and was blown away by how awesome it is. I don’t recall ever seeing it before. Simple photo, but I love it.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #29

In recognition of me loosing 100 pounds in 2019, I’m sharing 100 of my favorite cards from my collection.

Card #29 is another Paul Goldschmidt card. In fact, it’s another Own The Name card. I’ve showed off the letter “D” already. Today it’s the letter “C”.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #28

Card #28 of my 100 Pounds - 100 Cards posts is a 1964 Topps Curt Flood Card. At one point a collector was hoarding this particular card and it put a premium on this card. I came across this card at my local card shop and picked it up for around $10. The card is in great shape and I was really happy to add it to my collection.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #27

Almost let it get past midnight before posting today. Card #27 is a Harmon Killebrew rookie card. It’s not in great shape, but I prefer my vintage “well loved” and that’s pretty much the only reason I could afford it. I think I paid around $40 for this card.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #26

Today is Edgar Martinez’s birthday, so I thought it would be a great time to share this Tier 1 autographed of the Hall of Famer. I picked this up on eBay several years prior to his getting the call to the Hall. These Tier 1 autographs are beautiful.

As a Griffey fan during the 1990s I was always aware of the greatness of Martinez and was happy to see him enshrined last year.

100 Pounds - 100 Cards - Card #25

I saw that Don Larsen passed away today, so I thought today would be a good time to share this card as part of my 100 Pounds, 100 Cards posts.

I’ve posted about this card before, but when I was a kid, my parents showed my an article in a Reader’s Digest magazine about Don Larsen. At that point I didn’t know anything about him or his Perfect Game, but I became fascinated with him and his accomplishment. Some time later I begged my parents to take me to a Card Show to get Mickey Mantle’s autograph, but when we got to the show there were no tickets available for the Mick. There were tickets available for Don Larsen though. But I was angry and disappointed about missing out on Mantle, so I just wanted to go home.

So when I saw this card years later I had to pick it up.

My condolences go out to Mr. Larsen’s family.
