A Card From Cam

Cam, of the website/blog Collectable Cards - Fun and Easy responded to a trade post of mine. I offered up 22 different cards in exchange for the best 1 card offered in return. Cam offered this 2004 Finest Brandon Webb and I selected it as the best card offered. I got the card from Cam in the mail today. This brings my Brandon Webb collection to 153 different cards. Thanks Cam!

Back to Back to Back to Back

In the fourth inning of todays game vs. the Milwakee Brewers, the Arizona Diamondbacks tied a Major League record when Adam LaRoche, Miguel Montero, Mark Reynolds, and Stephen Drew hit back to back to back to back home runs off pitcher Dave Bush. The D-Backs won 8-2.

A Bunch of 2008 Goudey Packs

Last week I purchased 8 packs of 2008 Goudey from my local card shop for $1.50 each. I pulled a Jersey in the first 8 packs, so I went back for another 8 and then after that I just finished off what was left in the $1.50 box. I think I ended up with about 20 packs. Here is some of what I got.

JASON BAY Jersey

Hit Parade of Champions 2008 DON MATTINGLY

JAKE PEAVY SP

Sport Royalty BARRY SANDERS and MAGIC JOHNSON

I like the design used for all of the base cards, but something just feels right about seeing retired players on these cards. They have a pretty big selection and surprisingly they're not all Yankees.

A few packs of 2009 UD O-Pee-Chee

Last week I picked up a few packs of 2009 UD O-Pee-Chee from my local card shop. They were in a box with a bunch of other packs and were marked at $1.50 each. I was flipping though the packs and came accross a one pack that was super thin. I stopped and grabbed the 6 or 7 packs in front of that one and made my purchase. I later found out why that pack was super thin. Here are a few of the cards I got.

Mariano Rivera
Cesar Izturis

LANDON POWELL (very interesting photo) - DEXTER FOWLER RC - MICHAEL YOUNG Moments

2 Florida Marlins team cards. Oh wait, it's 1 Marlins team card and 1 Braves team card. The Braves team card just has a picture of Hanley Ramirez on the scoreboard. They couldn't have taken a picture of the stadium when the Braves were up to bat, really!

A few of the black corder parallel cards. I really like the Kouzmanoff.

And here's the reason why there was a super thin pack. 2009 UD O-Pee-Chee are supposed to have 6 cards per pack. I opened up one of the packs and 9 cards spilled out. 2 inserts - DUSTIN PEDROIA The Award Show and the 20th Anniversary Retrospective New York Yankees and 2 black border parallels all in the same pack.

Contest - The Basketball Card Blog...live from Rip City

There is a really cool contest going on over at The Basketball Card Blog...live from Rip City. The prize - a sweet Alonzo Mourning autograph. Go check it out, now!

Card Shop Pickup

I went to the card shop today. A guy in there had just opened a box of 2010 Topps Tribute before I walked in. He had pulled a Heyward auto, Gooden auto, and a Maris jersey among other things. He then bought another box. He got Strawberry auto, a Johnny Bench Buyback numbered to 10, and a Matt Kemp redemption. The pack with the Bench Buyback had another relic card in it, so he got 7 hits out of that box.

I was tempted to open a pack of tribute, but at $55 a pack I just couldn't do it. Instead, I picked up this bat card for $10. Waner was the 1927 NL MVP and is a member of the 3000 hit club. Not too bad for a Hall of Famer who hasn't played since 1945.
