I may be late to the party....

....but at least I made it to the party.

2017 Topps Heritage came out back in May I believe. I didn't partake in a blaster until late June and I'm not posting about it until now.

The truth is, I bought the blaster at Target one day and opened the packs in my car. Then I put the cards back into the blaster box and put the box in the center console of my car and sort of forgot about it until tonight when I was cleaning out my car.

Here's a look at the contents of the blaster which contained 8 packs. Each pack contains 9 cards...well most packs contain 9 cards, but we'll get to that later.

Pack 1

Pack 1 contained a Joey Votto SP.

Pack 2

Pack 3

Pack 3 contained a 10th card. A Rediscover Topps card featuring Don Aase on a 1979 Topps card. I know there are different colored stamps and this one is silver.

Pack 4

The Kyle Schwarber is an SP.

Pack 5

Pack 5 contained an unexpected hit. The Nick Markakis card is a Grey Back variation which is limited to 10. The card is neither grey nor actually numbered, but after some brief research I am confident that this is the short printed variation, which is 1:529 packs.

Here is the Markakis card back next to a regular card back. To me, it looks more brown than grey.

1954 Bowman Ed Mathews

I made a last minute trip to my LCS last Saturday for the 3 o'clock auction and boy was I glad I did. Even getting there about 10 minutes late I still walked away with 4 items from the auction, for less than $8. There were only 4 other bidders. usually there are at least 10.

This 1954 Bowman Eddie Mathews set me back $3.

I know it's in rough shape, really rough shape, but I still love it and for the price, I couldn't say no.

I'm also curious to get your thoughts on Eddie Mathews. I feel like he doesn't get a lot of hobby love. Just curious as to your thoughts why or if you think he gets the hobby love that he deserves.

Road Trip with my Wallet Card

On July 1st my family and I embarked on a 3700 mile, 9 day, 7 state, 5 National Park road trip.

My wallet card made the journey with me and made several appearances.

Binder 4 of 19 (1983 Donruss and 1983 Donruss Hall of Heroes)

This is the 4th binder that I've featured and so far it is the best in my opinion.

It contained a bunch of 1983 Donruss cards; including this Howard Johnson RC.

So far each binder has had a least one minor star RC. 

Not much else from the base set except for these 13 Ty Cobb puzzle cards that with...the actual puzzle.

Super happy to add this puzzle to my collection!

But that's not all the binder had in store. Next up is a complete set of 1983 Donruss Hall of Fame Heroes.

This is an absolutely beautiful set and I was shocked to find it in the binder since most of the binders are completely void of anything resembling a star player.

Also included was the Mickey Mantle puzzle from the 1983 Donruss Hall of Fame Heroes set.

Like I said earlier, in my opinion this is the best binder so far and it may end up being the best binder of the lot. 

Again I paid $20 for all 19 binders and 5 boxed sets, so I think I got a great deal, but finding stuff like this makes it even better.

Binder 3 of 19 (1982 Donruss)

The next binder from my card show purchase was filled with 322 cards from 1982 Donruss. I didn't notice any doubles and there was not a single blank spot on the sheets. Would this mean that stars would be included?

The only star presence in the binder cam in the form of two Expos rookie cards of minor stars, which were found on the first and second page in the binder.

Nothing else of note until the last three pages which contained a complete puzzle which feature Babe Ruth. 

Donruss put gum in it's 1981 packs, but was sued and lost to Topps and so they inserted puzzle pieces into their packs fr the first time in 1982. The puzzles became a staple for Donruss for the next 10 years or so.

I've always loved the Donruss puzzles and was thrilled to find it in the binder. In my opinion, this made the binder worth the 80 cents I paid for it.
