Some Wicked cards!

Alfredo...aka wickedortega...aka Wicked, of the blog now titled Wicked Toys, was a powerhouse in the blogosphere a few years ago. He took some time off from blogging and came back offering up some cool cards at great prices. I jumped at some of his vintage cards (mostly Pirates from the late 50's and early 60's) and won a contest as well, so Alfredo sent along some D-Backs as a prize, but he really went overboard with his generosity. Thanks Alfredo!

2012 Vintage Pick-Ups

One of my 2012 Card Collecting Goals is to add 10 solid vintage cards to my collection. On this page I will keep track of my progress. I've added 5 out of the 10 so far. Here are the cards that I've added to my collection this year.

Card Shop Pick-Up: Dave Winfield RC

I picked up this 1974 Topps Dave Winfield Rookie Card this past Friday at my local card shop. I've wanted this card for a while. My brother-in-law had this card from when he was a kid and I've always liked it. Now I have one of my own. The condition is not perfect (I didn't crop it real close so you could see the corners and edges), but I've mentioned before that for me, when it comes to vintage, condition is not all that imprtant to me. This card definitly fits my vintage goal that I set as part of my 2012 Card Collecting Goals. I never knew, or had forgotten, but Winfield was a pitcher in college, and a darn good one at that. He was the 1973 College World Series MVP as a pitcher, before being drafted by the San Diego Padres (MLB), Minnesota Vikings (NFL), Atlanta Hawks (NBA), and Utah Stars (ABA). I'm glad he choose baseball!
