August 11, 1991 - Wilson Alvarez pitches no-hitter against Orioles!

This was supposed to have been posted 5 years ago. Not sure what happened, but here you go. On the 19th anniversary of his no-hitter.

Wilson Alvarez pitched a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles on August 11, 1991 in just his second Major League start. Over the next 13 seasons Alvarez would go on to post a career record of 102 - 92 with an ERA of 3.96 and 1,330 strikeouts. He made the All-Star team in 1994.

July 28, 1991 - Dennis Martinez pitches perfect game!

Dennis Martinez of the Montreal Expos pitched a perfect game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 28, 1991. At the time it was just the 13th perfect game in MLB history. Score honored him in 1992 with two cards, one for the perfect game and one for the no-hitter.

July 13, 1991 - Orioles pitchers combine to throw no-hitter against A's!

On July 13, 1991 Bob Milacki, Mike Flanagan, Mark Williamson, and Greg Olsen teamed up to pitch a no-hitter against the Oakland Athletics. Milacki pitched the first six innings while Flanagan, Williamson, and Gregg each pitched one inning in that order. The Orioles won the game 2 -0.

September 29, 2013

Henderson Alvarez pitched a no-hitter against the Detroit Tigers on the last day of the 2013 season. The Marlins had failed to score during the first 8 innings, so it wasn't until the bottom of the 9th when, with Alvarez in the on-deck circle, Giancarlo Stanton raced home on a wild pitch by Luke Putkonen.

September 11, 1991 - Braves pitchers combine to no-hit the Padres.

On September 11, 1991 Alejandro Pena, Mark Wohlers, and Kent Mercker combined to no-hit the San Diego Padres. Mercer started the game and pitched 6 innings giving up 2 walks. Wohlers pitched the 7th and 8th inning and Pena closed out the 9th to finish the no-hitter.

I picked up this pair of tickets from Edwin Jackson's no-hitter on eBay last week. I had been outbid on a couple others auctions, but won this pair for $1.35 + $4.90 shipping. I'm going to try to get Edwin to sign them sometime this season.

Congratulations go out to Edwin Jackson of my Arizona Diamondbacks as he pitched a no-hitter today against the Tampa Bay Rays! Jackson pitched the second no-hitter in D-Backs history, as Arizona beat Tampa Bay 1-0 on an Adam LaRoche solo home run in the second inning. Jackson gave up 8 walks and threw a career-high 149 pitches in the no-hitter.
