Looking Ahead

With 2021 just around the corner I wanted to take a moment to look ahead at what I hope the future will bring for me and my collections and my blog.

I have 3 main goals for this next year.

1) Organize

This is a current look at my card room. Yeah, I've got a lot of work to do. This will be my immediate focus. I plan on utilizing binders more so I can enjoy my collection.

2) Downsize

No, downsize isn't the right word. I actually want to grow my collection, but I want to make sure that everything I have is something that I want.

3) Be more involved in the blogging community

2021 will be my 12th year blogging. Nearly 200 posts in 2020 and over 2,000 total, but I don't feel as connected to the blogging community as I have in the past and I want to change that. I'll be reading and commenting more on other blogs and I'll be hosting more contests and giveaways.

Speaking of contests and giveaways, let's get started. Comment below with three of your hobby related goals for this next year and you can win this 2001 Upper Deck Gold Glove Slugger's Choice Game-Used Batting Glove card of Paul O'Neil. It's a little rough around the edges, but still a nice card. You have until January 1, 2021 to enter the the giveaway.

  1. I'd like to get my card table organized and filed. There are a couple stacks on there from really old card shows.

  2. My goals are similar to yours - organize and get rid of what doesn't fit in my collection. I also want to update my scanning and documentation of my garvey collection. Happy New year!

  3. 1) I've started revamping my PC boxes.. and wanna get them all sorted into team bags. 2) I hope to complete at least one of the 70s Topps sets I've been building for the past few years. 3) Dump at least a couple thousand "don't need" cards that've been taking up space.

Thanks for the contest and best of luck to you in 2021, Daniel!

  4. My goals for collecting are 1. ORGANIZE my personal collections, trade bait and all areas of cards in my card room; 2. Trade more often as long as the finances allow; 3. Work on three different Frankensets, one of which has been started and the other two are in the very early stages.

  5. Similar to you, I have a bunch of cards that no longer fit in my collection that I need to unload.

  6. Paulie! Every Yankee fan loves him. My big goal is adding on to my vintage baseball collection. I'm toying with a vintage football collection but that's getting off to a somewhat rough start and I might abandon it . . .

  7. I don’t like the term downsizing. More like refining my collection. Ha! I love reading collecting goal blog posts. Mine are publish 5th edition of my book, finish some sets that have taken way too long, and continue to get care packages out. Best of luck in 2021!

  8. Twelve years of blogging is tremendous. Nice work there! Three goals for me:
    (1) Keep trading away cards I don't want or need.
    (2) Put a couple more completed sets in binders, and find room to store the binders.
    (3) Mail out prizes from the giveaway I had just yesterday. (There are still prizes available, so please stop by my blog and claim one!)

  10. 1.) Account for and put any loose cards I've picked up over the past year or so.
2.) Account for any loose autograph cards and put them in some sort of order.
3.) Make sure I get some of the retail products - never had to worry before, but I want to secure 1 of mostly anything that comes out.

  11. 12 years is awesome. And 200 posts in 2020 is quite the impressive feat. Keep it up! As for goals... I haven't sat down and written any in a few years, but here are three things I want to do:

    1. stick to my budget
    2. organize my insert/parallels/oddball player collections
    3. organize a few of my 5,000ct. boxes
