2001 Post Cereal 500 Home Run Club Set

I'm working on completing the run of modern Post cereal cards. This would be 1990-1995 and 2001-2003.   I'm not going after the Canadian version of the 91-95 cards, so there are 10 sets.

The 2001 Post 500 Home Run Club set is a small set. Only 8 cards total. I knew I needed a couple cards to complete the set but wasn't sure which ones exactly when I came across a few in a dime box at The Batter's Box card shop this past week. I grabbed all of them just in case. A couple were damaged, but I grabbed them to act as a placeholder in case they were one of the cards that I still needed. Turns out in my haste, I even grabbed two Killebrew cards.

I ended up needing the Jimmie Foxx and the Mike Schmidt and neither of them were damaged, so I was super happy!

It's a nice looking set with a great group of players (obviously since they are part of the 500 Home Run Club), but it's disappointing that it doesn't include all the members of the 500 Home Run Club.

  1. I am working on those too. I've complete all but just a few.
I need the 2001 500 HR #5 Robinson, then just 3 of the base cards (3,6,12), then 8 from the 2003 set (1,3,9,13,14,15,19,27,29). I'll have pull any dupes when I run across them for you.

    1. The 500 HR Robinson extra card I have is creased. Otherwise I would send it to you. If I find any of the base 2001 cards you need I will let you know. I actually purchased the entire 2003 set one card at a time from the same seller on eBay after I wrote this post. I got them to do 40% off for 4+ cards, but it was still pricey.

    2. 2003 POST IS ODD. YOU HAVE 2 SETS. THE UPPER DECK BASE post SET OF 31 CARDS, AND THEN YOU HAVE THE 6 CARD post SET THAT IS USUALLY PRICIER.

  2. I've seen these before, but not all together in one spot. Very weird they didn't include Hank on the checklist.

    1. Yeah, there are some big misses in the set. Asron, Mays, and Mantle. They must not have wanted to pay for the rights to use them.

  3. There are no Dodgers ranked high on the all-time home run lists so I miss out on seeing sets like this. It reminds me of a Panini old-timer set, except you can see the logos.

  4. I appreciate your Post quest as I'm a fan of of '80's-'90's food issues myself. I think I need a couple of these yet though. Killer and Jackson perhaps? I'll have to check.

  5. 2001 might be their best looking set. I only have a couple of those cards but will be on the lookout to complete this some day.

    1. Appreciate the offer. My posting this prompted me to go to eBay and I grabbed the 1995 set. Actually it was a lot of 2 1995 sets. I also got the 2003 set. The 6 card promo set and the 31 card base set.

  7. Hmmm...don't remember running into any of these cards before. Funny, since I'm pretty sure I still ate cereal back then.
