Check out my Brandon Webb cards

I'd read about checkoutmycards.com on a few blogs and had looked at the site briefly a few months ago, but lately I’ve seen more and more posts containing cards from the site, so I decided to give them another glance. My glance turned into 15 minutes, then a half an hour...75 cards later I headed to the checkout page. I was going to add 75 Brandon Webb cards to my collection for less than $20. At the checkout page I was confronted with not only a shipping charge, but a processing fee that was more than the amount of the cards. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about the processing fee, I understand that it must be time consuming to sort through all of those cards, but it was just a bit shocking. So I scaled down my order and got these 7 cards for just over $6 total. If anyone has the other colors (blue, gold & green) of the 2006 Upper Deck Future Stars Brandon Webb, and you are willing to trade, please let me know. Thanks!

Some Random D-Backs from Pauls Random Stuff

Paul of the blog Paul’s Random Stuff contacted me regarding a trade bait post of mine and asked if I would be interested in a Russ Ortiz jersey card. (The Ortiz Jersey card got scanned but apparently did not get saved, so alas, no picture) I'm collecting any and all D-Backs relics/autos so we arranged the trade. Paul informed me that he would also include a few other Diamondbacks in his package. I got the package from Paul a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised. In addition to the Ortiz jersey Paul sent roughly 40 other Diamondbacks cards all sorted out by player. I was able to add a few Brandon Webb’s to my Brandon Webb collection and received a great assortment of other D-Backs. Here are just a few. Thanks again Paul!

2008 Bowman Brandon Webb - Just a great looking card.

2009 Topps Base and Target Retro Brandon Webb - I know some people don't really like these retro cards, but I do. My favorite thing about them is the Topps logo.

2009 Topps base and Target Retro Conor Jackson

2007 Fleer Blue Chips Prospects - Conor Jackson

2003 Topps Total - Craig Counsel - Best batting stance ever. Okay, at least most unique.

2004 Upper Deck Power Up - Luis Gonzalez - One of my favorite cards that Paul sent. Reminds me of a bobblehead.

2008 Topps Randy Johnson - Paul sent me a nice stack of Randy Johnson cards. This is the only one showing him batting. At 6 ft 10 inches tall he must have had a huge strike zone.

2005 Topps Updates & Highlights Stephen Drew - I almost bought this card at the Card Shop last weekend. Glad I didn't.

I'll take the D-Backs!

Mike of the blog JD’s Wild Cardz was nice enough to offer some of his extra 2009 T206 and Updates & Highlights cards based to other bloggers based on their favorite team. I was lucky enough to snatch up the D-Backs and received a package from Mike a few days ago. Thanks Mike. I didn’t have any of the T206 cards or the Justin Upton Propaganda card. I have all the base Topps Updates & Highlights cards but they are a part of my set, so this is nice because I can put together a separate D-Backs team set. Thanks again Mike and I’ll see what I can find to return the favor!

Chris Young - I hope Young has a huge 2010 season, so everyone can forget his awful 2009.

Josh Whitesell - Josh will not be with the D-Backs in 2010. He signed with the Washington Nationals. Good luck Josh!

Jon Garland (base & bronze) - Did you know that Garland appeared as himself on an episode of the Bernie Mac Show?

Max Scherzer - Good luck in Detroit Max!

Justin Upton Propaganda - Not the best looking picture of Upton, but a fun insert set.

2008 Upper Deck X

I recently completed the 2009 Topps Updates & Highlights set, with the help of some of my fellow bloggers. I guess I've caught the set collecting bug because now I'm trying to complete the 2008 Upper Deck X set. The base set is only 100 cards and I had bought a hobby box about 6 months ago and a retail blaster around Christmas, so I thought I'd probably have the set already, but when I started putting it together last night I came up 16 cards short. Here is a list of the cards that I still need: 9, 11, 12, 13, 18, 25, 32, 51, 53, 54, 58, 72, 74, 88, 93, and 95. I have over 50 doubles so if you are also trying to complete the set let me know and maybe we can help each other out. Thanks!

Gonzo!

I received a trade package from Paul of Carl Crawford Cards yesterday. Paul and I had arranged a trade a while back and he was nice enough to send me this Luis Gonzalez jersey card that he tracked down while he was traveling over the holidays. It's from the 2004 Topps set and is a sweet looking card! Thanks Paul! This is going into my Personal Collection and makes 4 cards so far that I've added to my Personal Collection in 2010. Only 96 more to reach one of my 2010 card collecting goals.

2009 Topps Updates & Highlights is now COMPLETED

In today's mail I recieved a small white envelope from David of the blog 2008 Allen & Ginter Card-scape. In it was just one card from the 2009 Topps Updates & Highlights set. Card #UH146. This is the last card I needed to complete my set. Now I know that completing a 330 card set from the current year (I guess technically last year) is not that big of a deal, but to me it is. I haven't completed a set in years. I really enjoyed this set and want to thank everyone who helped out by sending me cards to complete it and a special thanks to David for sending me the final card that I needed!

5 More Cards In My Personal Collection

I picked up these 2002 Upper Deck All-Star Home Run Derby cards a few years ago on ebay. The cards feature pieces of the jerseys that the players wore while competing in the 2001 Home Run Derby. There were more than 5 players in the 2001 Home Run Derby, but I'm pretty sure these are the only 5 players included in this set.
