Trade with Saints of the Cheap Seats

A few days before Christmas I recieved a package in the mail from Dan of Saints of the Cheap Seats. I had contacted him about a couple of cards that he had up for trade. I sent him some of the cards he needed for some sets he is collecting, plus a few Indians cards and he sent me these two wonderful cards! Thanks Dan!

2009 SP Legendary Cuts Destination Stardom Jersey Card of Brandon Webb - I love the combination of red on this card. The red background, Webb's uniform, and the Jersey piece!

2007 Ultimate Collection Micah Owings Autographed RC 041/299 - Micah may not have been the best starting pitcher ever, but he was the best hitting pitcher I ever saw. I saw him hit 2 homeruns and a double against the Braves once. He was used as a pinch hitter several times. I was sad to see him get traded off.

Merry Christmas!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! We are doing things a little different this year, so it's 7:30 am and I'm the only one up so far. Looking forward to watching my kids open their presents. Each is getting their first pack of cards today in their stocking, so that will be fun and my 3, almost 4 year old, is getting his first baseball glove. Anyways, I hope everyone has a fantastic day and gets lots of cards!

Talk about getting your money's worth!

I was going through an 800 count box of cards the other day and found a couple of cards that I'd forgotten about. These are 2003 Topps Gallery Currency Collection cards which feature a player and a coin from that players native country. I think they were probably one per box. Guess that means I bought two boxes. Gallery was one of my favorite brands. I always thought these cards were pretty creative.

Francisco Rodriguez - Venezuelan 25 Centimo

Ichiro - Japanese Yen

My thoughts on a trade with Thoughts and Sox

Adam of the blog Thoughts and Sox contacted me to arrange a trade. He would send D-Backs and I would send Red Sox. He sent me a nice stack of Diamondbacks of which I will feature a few of my favorites. Adam, I am still working on putting your package together, but it will go out shortly. I had to buy a bigger padded envelope so I could send more cards. Thanks again Adam!

2004 Topps Season Highlight card of Randy Johnson's Perfect Game - I remember sitting in my car in a grocery store parking lot so I could listen to Johnson get his perfect game.

2004 Topps Season Highlight card of Randy Johnson's 4000th Strikeout - Adam sent me two of these cards. The bottom one has been folded down the middle. It's hard to see it in the scan. Not sure why it had been folded.

A couple of Brandon Webb cards - Webb is my favorite D-Back right now and I am excited to see him pitch again in 2010.

2008 Topps Chris Young - High fives mean a D-Backs victory!

A couple of Max Scherzer Rookie Cards - I'm sad to see Max go, but I wish him luck in Detroit!

2009 O-Pee-Chee Justin Upton - I already have this card, but I wanted to show it because I love the fans on the card. I know right where this is a Chase Field and I think it is a great picture of a great catch and the fans expressions are priceless.

Finally, two cards of D-Backs players that I didn't have have. I'm trying to collect one card of every player who has played for the Diamondbacks.

1992 Score Dream Team - Cal Ripken Jr.

I was going through a box of cards a few days ago and came accross this 1992 Score Dream Team Cal Ripken Jr. card. I used to love Score cards, they were cheap, and had cool subsets - the most famous being the Dream Team cards. This was one of my favorite Dream Team cards back in day, and I still think it's pretty awesome! I mean look at it. I've always wondered if they had Ripken pose in front of the train or if they photoshopped him in?

Even the back of the card looks cool.

Night Owl just doubled my Max Scherzer collection

Night Owl and I just completed a trade. I sent him a numbered Ishii card and some random Dodgers and he set me 3 Rookie Cards plus some random Diamondbacks. His random stack of D-Backs included 6 Max Scherzer cards. Scherzer was recently traded by the D-Backs to the Detroit Tigers as part of the three team trade that sent Curtis Granderson to the Yankees. I'm going to miss Max and so I decided to feature the 6 Scherzer cards that Night Owl sent as a tribute along with the 3 Rookie Cards that were the actual trade. Thanks Night Owl!

Ebay Purchase

I thought I was done posting today, but then I went to the mailbox and found 3 packages with my name on them. Here is an ebay purchase from earlier this week. It is a 1986 Topps Traded Todd Worrell Rookie Card. Actually, I got 8 of them. My winning bid was $0.80 with Free Shipping. Todd won the 1986 national League Rookie of the Year Award. One of my collecting goals is to collect a Rookie Card of every player who has won the Rookie of the Year Award. Since I have 8 of these cards, I scanned the front and back. If anyone is interested in trading, I have 7 extras.
