AZ Fall League Cards

I had a couple of posts in the Draft Folder regarding these cards. Let's just post one finally. Here we go!

The Arizona Fall League (AFL) began in 1992 as a way for teams to get their top minor league prospects some extra playing time after the regular season ends. Over the years many notable players have spent time in the AFL, including; Derek Jeter, Mike Piazza, Albert Pujols, Dustin Pedroia, and Andrew McCuthen.


650 Johnny Damon AFL - Damon spent time with 7 different teams between 1995-2012. He was a two time all-star as well as a two time World Series Champion. Once with the Red Sox in 2004 and then with the Yankees in 2009. 
651 Dustin Hermanson AFL - Hermanson spent part or all of 12 seasons (1995 - 2006) in the big leagues on 7 different teams.winning a World Series title with the White Sox in 2005. 
652 Joe Randa AFL - Randa, whose nickname was "The Joker", played for 5 different teams between 1995 - 2006. He had two different stints with both the Royals and the Pirates during his 12 year career. 
653 Michael Tucker AFL - Tucker played for 7 different teams over a 12 year period (1995 - 2006) including two different stops with the Royals. He had some of his best years in Atlanta and hit the first home run at Turner Field. 
654 Alan Benes AFL - Alan, the younger brother of MLB pitcher Andy Benes, spent 9 years at the major league level with 3 different teams and was even a teammate of his big brother for a couple of seasons with the Cardinals. 
655 Chad Fonville AFL - Fonville had a fairly uneventful career, spending parts of 5 seasons with 4 different teams. His time in the big leagues netted him 31 RBI and 0 home runs.

657 Jon Nunnally AFL
658 Chan Ho Park AFL
659 LaTroy Hawkins AFL
660 Jamie Brewington AFL
661 Quinton McCracken AFL
662 Tim Unroe AFL
663 Jeff Ware AFL
664 Todd Greene AFL

666 Ernie Young AFL

  1. What is going on with that Chan Ho Park card? He's a righty, but it shows him throwing lefty?

  2. That Chan Ho Park is pretty cool - probably a case where he likes to play around trying to throw lefty.

    Sometimes you can catch Yu Darvish doing the same thing where they are sort of ambidextrous.
