1984 Donruss Needs

The 1984 Donruss set is one of the most iconic baseball card sets from the 1980's. Donruss made a major leap forward, improving drastically from it's 1981, 1982, and 1983 sets and put out a quality product in 1984. The photo quality is great, a nice rookie class and at least what is thought to be scarcity, compared to other sets at the time, make the 1984 Donruss set one of the most sought after sets of the 80's.

I bought a collection a few years ago that had a partial set and I bought another collection that had both the Mattingly and Strawberry rookie cards, so I figured why not complete the set. I had a few cards already and I took my list to my LCS and was able to grab 100+ cards I needed. I am now down to just 80 cards. Most are star cards though which is both good and bad. Good because I should be able to find them easier, but bad because the 1984 Donruss cards of star players tend to command a slight premium to other cards of the same era, so it will cost me a little bit to complete the set.

Night Owl sent me 5 cards I needed on 8/19/21.

  1. Best of luck completing it. I got lucky with this set. Picked up a binder with the complete set (minus 5 cards) at the flea market for $12. Luckily none of the 5 singles were big names or key rookie cards.

  2. Best Donruss set ever made. I have a few extras, I'll check your list, maybe I'll have a couple.
